IMPORTING OR SOURCING GOODS
Once you find goods you are interested in from the links on our website, and are ready to get pricing . . . simply email josh@bate.bm with your list of items to include the quantity, brand, item or model number, size and/or finish if applicable. When “shopping” at a retail website, please “Build-A-Cart” and email us a .pdf copy. Emails are responded to immediately. If you do not receive a reply to your request within one business day, please call 441-236-7880 to confirm receipt.
Within 1 to 3 business days you should receive a Quotation to include all landed costs to Bermuda, except for local trucking and installation. During that time, our Sales Associate contacted our US suppliers to negotiate the best pricing possible and confirmed availability to provide an estimated lead time on the Quotation. Quotations are valid for 30 days. Although prices do not often change after 30 days, we need to confirm with our vendors to honour pricing beyond 30 days.
PRICING
Delivery costs are NOT included unless noted, with the purchase of some in-stock Appliances.
Installation costs are NOT included in any of our pricing.
All quotes are good for 30 days, unless otherwise noted.
PURCHASING
To proceed with an order, based on a Quotation from Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd., the minimum payment required is the “Total 1st Cost,” which is noted on the bottom left of the Quotation.
BATE’S “Special Orders” require 50% deposit to process, with balance to be paid upon pick-up or before receiving delivery.
In-stock goods purchased from BATE’S must be paid in full before picking-up or receiving delivery.
To purchase Appliance Parts or other items to ship by Air Freight, all orders must be paid in full before processed.
PAYMENT
We accept Cash, Checks or payment by electronic transfer. Please email batebooks@joshbate.com to receive our account details. Cash and Checks should be dropped at our showroom or Checks can be mailed to BATE’S.
As soon as we receive an email confirming payment has been made by transfer, we will process the order immediately, then forward an Acknowledgement once we have confirmed receipt of funds.
Returned checks will incur a $50 fee. Any additional cost of collection will be the responsibility of the customer.
Debit & Mastercard or Visa credit cards are only accepted towards orders of less than $5,000. A “Cash Discount” is available on some purchases at BATE’S.
FINANCING AVAILABLE!
Financing is available through Vireo for purchases of Appliances, Sealy Mattresses & Foundations at BATE’S, as well as Importing Furniture from Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd. 3 or 6 month payment plans available for minimum purchases of $1,200 up to $6,500 maximum of Landed cost – trucking, installation and other service fees not applicable. SHIPPING & LOGISTICS
Unless we are notified otherwise, orders are shipped complete as quickly as possible. Upon request, we can notify customers when goods are complete at our US warehouse, then wait until we are advised of a sail date before shipping to Bermuda. We sail every Friday and goods are usually delivered the following week . . . usually by Wednesday or Thursday.
Weekly storage charges are incurred, for any goods stored at our stateside warehouse for more than two weeks. Customers are notified in advance of the $ amount, and when charges will begin, to determine if they will want any partial shipments. A “Split-Shipment Fee” of $96 will be charged for each additional shipment, plus there will be a trucking charge per shipment for delivery. Although pick-up fees of $20 or $50 apply to larger shipments that must be picked up at Fast Forward Freight, there are no additional costs to pick-up at BATE’S showroom. Partial shipments are also available when some items on an order are delayed. Please note that backordered items are beyond our control.
Since Warranties begin the day goods are delivered, you should be ready to install Appliances before having them sail.
A Shipping Confirmation email is sent to customers the week the order sails, which explains many important details regarding the shipment. Most importantly . . .
INSTALLATION
Installation is NOT included is any of our pricing. We must be notified at time of purchase if you will need any goods installed, and if any existing appliances are to be disconnected and/or removed & disposed.
Our service company “BQS – Bate’s Quality Service” installs and services all of the appliances we sell, as well as some other product lines. Click on BQS Rates for current rates and details.
Installation does not have to be provided by Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd. or its subsidiaries for the Warranty to remain intact. As long as the Installation Instructions supplied with the goods are adhered to, there should not be a problem. If any issues arise which may be attributed to improper Installation, the product’s Warranty will be void.
NOTE: Electric Ranges & Dryers do not usually ship with electrical cords. If you are replacing existing units, we suggest you inspect your current cords for wear and tear, and if they appear like new, you may use them on your new appliances. If you need an electrical cord, determine if you need a 3 or 4 prong plug, the AMPS required and the length for your Installation. We stock cords at our showroom.
DELIVERY & PICK-UP OPTIONS
When orders arrive in Bermuda, we will arrange for the goods to be delivered, unless notified otherwise. Small shipments may be picked up at BATE’S showroom for no extra charge, however large orders not requested to be delivered must be picked up at Fast Forward Freight, and they charge $20 or $50, depending on the size of the order. This pick-up fee covers the cost of having a Fast Forward employee available to assist our customers with inspecting and loading their goods, and is collected at the time of pick-up, and exact amount is required.
Free Curbside Delivery with carton removal is included with the purchase of most in-stock Appliances from BATE’S. Customers will only be charged if delivery requires more than basic service such as entry through balconies, long flights of stairs, etc. Other In-stock goods may be picked up at BATE’S showroom for no extra charge.
We contract Fast Forward Freight to deliver to our customers – they accept CASH ONLY and they charge our customers for delivery as follows:

Please note that these Fast Forward Freight’s Rates are for Joshua Bate Trading & BATE’S customers only, and are based upon 2 staff required to perform the labour. For extra large or heavy items (which include all “Built-In” Refrigerators and any Appliances over 36″ wide), when 4 staff are required, they charge the following, and will usually do a site visit in advance to provide a detailed estimate:
$250 per hour with a minimum charge of $285 (time starts from loading equipment for the delivery).
For both delivery & removal by 4 staff, the minimum charge is $380.
There are additional flat fees to remove and dispose Appliances, Mattresses and other goods, see more details below.
Customers are required to verify that goods will fit through doorways before receiving delivery. If there is a problem and a BQS technician must go to the delivery site while the delivery is in process, (for example, to remove the doors of a refrigerator to get it through the doorway), there will be a $100 Urgency Fee added to the standard BQS service charge.
Removal and disposal services of any existing appliances are available by Fast Forward Freight, upon delivery. Appliances must be disconnected and ready for pick-up, or we can arrange for a BQS technician to be on-site at the time of delivery. In addition to the delivery charge, the Removal/Disposal fees for Appliances are as follows:

PLEASE NOTE: If an Appliance is not disconnected and ready for Removal upon delivery, and Fast Forward Freight has to make a return trip, there will be an ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF $50.
Fee for Removal of Mattresses and/or Boxsprings is $100.
If customers need removal of any other items, Fast Forward Freight can assist, however they need to be notified in advance, and will advise extra cost upon request. Fast Forward Freight can be reached at 441-292-9509 to get an estimate for removal of other items or any services which may be required.
Trucking charges on BATE’S special orders must be paid in full directly to Fast Forward upon delivery, and they only accept payment by cash or check. And since drivers do not carry change, EXACT CHANGE is required. Charges for the delivery of Joshua Bate Bermuda Ltd. special orders are included in the Final Invoice sent to the customer, after Fast Forward bills us.

CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS & CHANGES
Special Orders may NOT be Cancelled & Returns are NOT Accepted – be sure to measure spaces and review details on Quotations carefully before ordering.
In some cases, goods purchased from stock may be returned with management approval, however a 15% Restocking Fee will be incurred.
Although rarely, an exception may be made to accept a return on a special order item, however a 25% Return Fee will be incurred.
Changes or Cancellation of Special Orders before goods ship to Bermuda are subject to US vendor approval & conditions. A $55 Change or Cancellation Fee will be applied in addition to any applicable vendor fees.
WARRANTIES
“Out-of-Box” Warranty is provided on all goods unless otherwise specified. Our “Out-of-Box” Warranty guarantees a product will perform correctly upon initial set-up and installation. Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd must be notified within 5 days of receipt of goods, unless otherwise determined, to address any “Out-of-Box” issues.
RESIDENTIAL APPLIANCES:
Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd. honours the manufacturer Warranties on all brands of Residential Appliances at least up to One Year.

EXTENDED WARRANTY available

Hestan Indoor Residential Appliances, Elica Appliances and Speed Queen “Homestyle” Laundry Appliances are covered by the manufacturers’ Three Year Warranty through Joshua Bate Trading Bermuda Ltd. as the authorized distributor in Bermuda. JBTB “Extended Warranty” Not Available.
Hestan Outdoor Appliances are covered by the manufacturer’s Warranty for One Year in a Residential location, or Two Years if purchased with designated Hestan Cover.
Residential Appliances Warranty Restrictions –
Residential Appliances must be installed in residential, single family households.
We do not provide any Warranty on Liebherr Icemakers included with their Refrigerators.
Condensation issues on French Door Refrigerators are not covered by Warranty in Bermuda – including faulty gaskets. This style of Refrigerator is simply not designed as well as others to withstand humid climates, especially in kitchens which are not air conditioned.
PLEASE NOTE: Appliances must be paid for in full before any Warranty service will be provided.
COMMERCIAL APPLIANCES:
Manufacturer Warranties are honoured for One Year only. For more details, refer to Owner’s Manual, included with the appliance.
JACUZZI® HOT TUBS:
Manufacturer’s Warranty is honoured for One Year.
OUTDOOR GRILLS:
Manufacturer Warranties are honored for up to 90 Days in Residential locations with these exceptions:
Aspire by Hestan & Saber Grills – Manufacturer Warranty honoured for 90 days in Residential Location or One Year if purchased with designated Cover.
Hestan Grills – Manufacturer Warranty honoured for One Year in Residential Location or Two Years if purchased with designated Cover.
GENERATORS:
Parts & Labor are covered for 100 Hours or 30 Days, whichever comes first.
PLUMBING FIXTURES & FAUCETS:
Manufacturer Warranties are honoured for One Year.
TELEVISIONS, FITNESS EQUIPMENT & ELECTRONICS:
Manufacturer Warranties are honoured for 30 Days only. We will make sure that the unit arrives safely and functions upon arrival for at least one month. We do not provide any other service or warranty on Televisions or Electronics.
WARRANTY PERIODS BEGIN the day goods are received by the customer or designated party in Bermuda, which includes storage facilities.
IF THE MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY is less than the timeframe we honour, we only cover the same length as the manufacturer.
WARRANTIES ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE and coverage details are as outlined in manufacturers’ User Manuals.

- Can only be sold to Owner of Appliances (end user or landlord of end user) – Purchase may not be made by technician, contractor, architect, designer, tenant or other. If Contractor or other ordered the Appliances, the owner must contact BATE’S or JBTB to purchase the “EXTENDED WARRANTY.”
